In January VDC Research Group (Natick, MA) published a study entitled “2010 Industrial Networking Infrastructure Products Global Market Analysis needs and opportunities” that takes a look at the major trends in industrial networking market in 2011 and took the form of forecasts the speed of the market would expand. Although the study included both wired and wireless networks, this article will focus on the wireless sector.

In this area, the study predicts that “[a] ach years unfulfilled hype and hope, the market for wireless networks in significant growth in orders, shipments and revenues.” Factors contributing to the increase included “the development of standards, improved technology and safety (eg, ISA 100 and Wireless HART, mesh networks and called WPA2). Organizations are facing increasing competitive pressure and have their operational performance in the face of constant changes in economic conditions and technological improvements to be successful. Many technologies have been used for the next few years the production efficiency, quality and throughput in manufacturing and other distributed systems. Machine control, process control systems and building automation systems have been used extensively in recent decades, much of it since the year 1990, based on computer-controlled systems based on patented technologies optimized for the subsystem.

The business system level, we have seen widespread adoption of software for financial and transactional aspects of business. providing customer relationship management to business chain management to improve quality, software systems are used everywhere.

But if we find in these systems we see in many cases, they remain separated from each other, many with their own communication protocols make it difficult to coordinate. Since the company to the next level of business performance are looking, they try to increase their operational efficiency and improve coordination with business objectives. (more…)

In both storage and assembly industry, the process of choosing one of the most labor-intensive functions. In fact, it may take up to 50% of the workforce to change budget. For this reason, companies are constantly looking for ways to make this process to increase productivity and increasing customer expectations to maximize improvement. There are three important factors involved when you pick to improve. The first is the productivity or “pick-rate, half the time it takes to get an order from order entry to shipping dock, also called the” cycle time “, and finally the accuracy of the picks.

Several systems are available to all these factors to improve. However, most of these systems technologies such as barcodes and RFID tags or offer voice recognition technology which is often too large for smaller halls and assemblies. These systems are generally used only for large warehouses, including maintenance of complex supply chain traceability. Therefore, for smaller rooms, requires alternative solutions.

A cost-effective system for smaller rooms and meetings (which not only increases accuracy but also productivity) is a pick-by-light solution (PBL). A PBL-system consists of lights and LED displays for each pick location. Software is used to light each element is included and will be required to collect the amount shown. After picking the item, the user presses the lit button indicates that the item was selected. The system will highlight any subsequent items included, until the entire order is filled. development to find the optimal solution PBL, this is the kind of system SSI Schaefer decided.

In general, most PBL systems directly accessible from the warehouse database server. Therefore, the implementation of decentralized GUIs more the responsibility of the ERP system providers.
