Programmable logic controllers (PLCs) are widely used today for industrial automation and control for the factory assembly lines. Unlike general-purpose computer, the PLC is designed for operation in harsh environments, and most manufacturers offer a wide range of I / O and communication options to choose from.

Source and sink
