Understanding Human Machine Interface (HMI) for PLC control system
This allows control · much more interactive than ever before.
• The main purpose of an HMI is a simple graphical interface with a process possible.
· These devices are known by several names,
- Touch Screens
- Shows
- Man Machine Interface (MMI)
- Human Machine Interface (HMI)

This · allow an operator to use simple displays to determine machine condition and easy settings.
· The most common uses are
- Display machine faults
- Display machine status
- Allows the operator to start and stop cycles
- Monitoring the number of components
· These devices, certain benefits, such as
- Color coding provides easy identification (eg red) for problems
- Allow images / icons rapid detection
- Use of images makes the problems of illiteracy
- Display can be modified to access different information and
The general steps are
1. Classification of screens based PC software.
2. Download the screen to the HMI device.
3. Connect the device to a PLC.
4. Read and write to the HMI-PLC obtained with presets, input and update screens.
· The HMI of a PLC the user inputs the control bit in PLC memory and other bits in the PLC memory can be on / off points on the MMI screen to rotate.
